Planning Your Trip to Montréal & Québec City

Montréal and Québec City have a stronger foreign flavor than other cities in Canada, and the first language of most residents is French.

1.Visitor Information

e-mail info@bonjourquebec.com; call & 877/ 266-5687 or 514/873-2015; or visit www. bonjourquebec.com. The Québec provincial government maintains offices in the United States and abroad, which provide specific tourism information about the region. To contact the main Québec office in the U.K., write Québec Government Office in London, 59 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5JH, England; call & (44) 207/766-5900; or visit www.quebec.org.uk. Tourist offices for the public in Montréal and Québec City are listed in the “Visitor Information” sections in chapters 4 and 12. For more informal perceptions of the cities, the websites www.realtravel.com, www.travelblog.com, and www.travel blog.org feature a wide variety of realpeople- real-advice travel blogs.

2.Entry Requirement

PASSPORTS & PASS CARD Since January 2007, all air travelers traveling between the U.S. and Canada have been required to present a valid passport. The U.S. and Canada are developing a limited-use Passport Card, also called PASS Card, for land or sea travel between the two countries. For information on how to get a passport, go to “Passports” in the “Fast Facts: Montréal & Québec City” section at the end of this chapter—the websites listed provide downloadable passport applications as well as the current fees for processing passport applications.
